Feels like family run hotel. The service is fair enough though they do not offer breakfasts (or were not available during my stay).
There is a bakery nearby where you can get all for breakfast you need.
Room was clean and well equiped.

Being more a hostel than a hotel the rooms don't offer hotel amenities like a fridge and you only have a shared kitchen. There is also no reception desk at all.
Location is quite noisy most of the time except some hours over night.

Aufgrund einer Familienfeier brauchten wir mit 7 Personen (3DZ, 1EZ) eine Übernachtungsmöglichkeit nähe Essen Werden. Unsere Wahl viel auf das Rathaus 1910 und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Große, saubere Zimmer in einem tollen historischen Gebäude. Sehr netter Empfang durch den Inhaber. Unser Zimmer war schön und groß, es war ruhig und günstig. Die Teeküche war sehr groß, es war alles da, was man braucht und es gab eine schöne, große Dachterasse. Allerdings ist unser Zimmer nicht einmal sauber gemacht worden, obwohl wir vier Nächte dort waren, mit zwei Kindern, die natürlich auch Sand mit ins Zimmer gebracht haben. Die Rezeption war mal besetzt, mal nicht. Ich würde es für ein bis zwei Nächte auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen, f6e längere Zeit jedoch nicht.

Sehr individuelle und heimelige Unterkunft in schönem historischen Gebäude. Unser Afrikazimmer war sehr groß und gemütlich. Gutes wlan und eine große und schöne Gemeinschaftsküche mit Terrasse. Kaffe und Tee gibt es umsonst und diverse Kaltgetränke für 1,50. Im Umkreis von wenigen Fuß-Minuten gibt es zwei Bäckereien, die Frühstück und belegte Brötchen anbieten. Schräg gegenüber gibt es eine gehobene Pommesbude mit leckeren Pommes aus frischen Kartoffeln.
Das Zimmer war sauber und Handtücher sowie Badevorleger wurden täglich gewechselt, was für mich schon aus Umweltschutz nicht nötig gewesen wäre.
Wir kommen gern wieder!

Meine Bewertung betrifft nur das Gebäude als ehemaliges Rathaus der 1857 gegründeten Bürgermeisterei Werden-Land, nicht das Hotel und seinen Service.
Erbaut 1910/11 wurde es mit der Gebietsreform 1929 und der Eingemeindungen nach Essen und Velbert obsolet.
Schönes repräsentatives Gebäude mit vorgegerter Grünfläche, dem Heidhauser Platz.
Hier findet sich ein Denkmal an die Gefallenen des 1. Weltkrieges.
