An honest review, rooms were furnished adequately. But considering that this is of ibis branding, the entire expirience was lacklustre.
However, would like to commend on the friendliness of the staffs before I get into this review proper.
Non functioning safe that couldnt lock, free drink on arrival but the bottle opener was absolutely disgusting. Also, no mini-fridge.
The hotel was converted from a run-down building. You could more or less hear the floor creak with every step. Also, funky smell eminated from either the curtains when the sunlight hit them, or that plastic artwork in the toilet, I couldnt tell. Took some time getting used to the smell.
Toilet was well furnished, water pressure and temperature is good. Toilet seat placement was abit cramp, so you have to use it sideways. Manageable since I had stayed at hotels that had worse to offer.
The only gripe was that the lightings were a couple of "lightbulb" for the room, and spotlights for the toilet. Which made the place dimly and unevenly lit. It was built for the mood and asthetics, not practicality.
I visited in April, so the room felt slightly warm even without heating and the windows opened.
At night, it was warm as well.
You will find that the neighbouring houses were partying and chatting up til 3-4am on saturday and 2+am on sunday. They were smoking, barbequeing and chatting really loudly. Either you live with cigarette smoke, bbq smoke, and noise pollution, or close the windows and bear with the heat. Can only imagine worse if you visit in summer when the temperature is higher. Especially because there is no AC.
Location wise, was practical as it was near tram and train station. But the place around seems empty, abandoned and vacated on one side, and the other is residential area.
Housekeeping was performed everyday. Hand soap, toilet paper, towels provided. No hotel shower gel / shampoo provided.
Bed was huge despite a single room, pillows comfortable as it is made by stacking two inside a cover. Duvet as good as any. Great for sleep, except the smoke and noise, and temperature.
All in all, felt that hotel was designed to sell you on their looks and asthetics from the picture, but offers a relatively poor reality that are hidden from their nice looking designs. Price is relatively cheap despite last minute booking for holiday, for a reason...133 euro for two nights.
If you are not fussy, by all means make this your choice for a short stay. It is manageable, but don't expect too much.
