A prominent gilded statue of one of the more noteworthy rulers of Saxony
This statue is of Augustus the Strong, who was Elector of Saxony, but also King of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. He was a prolific fatherer of children, a distinguished patron of the arts, and possessed immense physical strength. However, as a ruler he often made disastrous decisions, particularly in starting the Great Northern War, which ultimately caused mayhem in the lands he intended to rule.
