After the meal, it is worth taking a walk along the banks of the Elbe, whose arch with a view of the exhibition center is always an experience. I painted several pictures there because you can capture fantastic views over a short distance, e.g. the city silhouette or the view to the west of the heights of the Dresden area.

Die Elbelandschaft zwischen Elbcenter und Altkaditz stellt zu jeder Jahreszeit etwas Besonderes, nahezu Einmaliges dar. Dazu muss man sich aber die Mühe machen, nach einem Gaststättenbesuch auch mal unten am Elbufer entlangzugehen. Die meisten fotografieren den Teller mit Essen und bewerten die besuchte Gaststätte nur mit urig u.ä. Bemerkungen sowie nettes Personal. Welch einfaltslosen Bemerkungen! Das Spitzwegerich hat z.B. eine sehr interessante Entstehungsgeschichte. Zu DDR- Zeiten war es für den gegenüberliegenden Betrieb die Kantine. Dann folgte ein langer Leerstand, bis der jetzige Besitzer mit einem Künstler daraus eine Stätte mit einem einmaligen Charme entwickelte. Nach dem Essen lohnt sich ein Spaziergang am Elbufer, dessen Bogen mit Blick zum Messegelände immer wieder ein Erlebnis ist. Ich habe dort mehrere Bilder gemalt, weil man auf einem kurzen Wegstück phantastische Blicke erfassen kann, z.B. die Stadtsilhouette oder der Blick nach Westen auf die Höhen der Dresdner Umgebung.
