Ein Tipp vorweg: Die Anreise sollte mit der Stadtbahn erfolgen. Die U 47 fährt alle 15 Minuten von Dortmund Hbf. Von der Station Obernette bis zum Museumseingang sind es weniger als 900 m und der Weg ist hervorragend ausgeschildert.. Im Museum selbst gibt es sehr viel zu entdecken. Die zahlreichen Lichtbilder, die hier bei „maps““ abgelegt sind, sagen eigentlich alles. Hervorzuheben ist die Sachkompetenz der Mitarbeiter und deren Bereitschaft, den Besuchern mit Rat und Tat und – vor allem – mit fundierten Informationen beiseite zu stehen. Die Fahrt mit den historischen Straßenbahnfahrzeugen über die Industriegleise ist sehr zu empfehlen, auch wegen des Geländes beiderseits der Schiene, das man so vom öffentlichen Verkehrsraum aus ja gar nicht sieht. Eine Führung durch das Museum sollte man sich auch nicht entgehen lassen!
