As the first Rococo style in Germany, this castle is absolutely beautiful. The staircase is the most impressive with colorful marble columns and all kinds of decorative details. This castle is not massively huge but still has lots of rooms. Each of them has different theme and color. The admission to the palace is via a guided tour only and it’s in German. It takes about one hour to finish touring all rooms. An audio guide is included in the entrance fee. So while following the guide, you could listen to the audio in English or other languages you choose. These is a well manicured garden and nice long boulevard leading to the hunting lounge Falkenlust. Be aware there is a long walk from the main palace to the hunting lounge. But the nature is beautiful. The hunting lounge is much smaller but still has the same Rococo style in each single room. The combined ticket is €15. A very reasonable price. And the staff are super friendly. Highly recommend.

Great place to walk through and review history. The on-site guides did a fantastic job providing historical facts, and also advising which rooms pictures/videos are allowed. Enjoy your visit.

The palace was actually pretty cool but not overwhelmingly so, with the exception of the main entrance with the grand staircase. The next two rooms are interesting as well but not as much. The second best room is definitely the summer dining room at the end of the tour. I was not thrilled with the "English speaking" tour guide. She was fairly difficult to understand, which was partially because of her mask but probably more so because she mispronounced various words. I cannot comment on the gardens because they were sadly closed.

Worth visiting if you are spending a couple of days in koeln. The train takes you there in less than 15 min. The gardens and the forest nearby are really beautiful

Augustusburg and Falkenlust are very well preserved and top clean palaces.
It is possible to visit Augustusburg only with a guided tour, which is however typical in Germany. Tours are in German language, but audioguides are also available in other languages and the guides speak English, of course, so they will be able to answer your questions during the tour.
Falkenlust is a little hunt residence and can be visited with audioguides. It is reachable from Augustusburg by a relaxing 30 minutes walk through the park.
The place is not crowded (maybe it is not that known), but of course,if you get there in the early opening hours, you won't have to queue such a long time.
Tickets cannot be purchased online.
Augustusburg ist directly in front of the train station and on the opposite side of the castle building you are in the town centre with many shops, restaurants and bars.
It's definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful palace with scenic nature. It’s entry free to visit the outside of the palace. To visit inside of the palace it needs fee. However, it’s temporarily closed to visit inside of the palace.

The castle, by and large, is on point. As a student, I paid €7.00 for a ticket plus an audio guide. If you can listen and speak German, there is a guide introducing some main rooms in the castle. The majority of items in the castle are fake ????. However, if you like rococo art, this castle may be a nice place for you to visit.
