Numerous volunteers are currently working to enable the pigeons to lead a species-appropriate life and to control population growth in the long term. It is extremely counterproductive when new pigeons are released again and again and the population increases!
It is therefore in the interest of the people who complain about the animals or have sympathy for them, as well as in the interests of the pigeons, that the animals - like other pets - are not abandoned. If the children had known what was in store for the deaf, many of them would have spoken out against it.
A lot of people don't know about the fate of the city pigeons and I really hope that the organizers did the same. However, even if one causes suffering out of ignorance, one should take responsibility for it. Supporting the city pigeons or the volunteers who look after them through the Bremen Children's Day and the future omission of actions that cause animal suffering would be good ways in my opinion to take on this responsibility.

Ein Kindertag ist prinzipiell eine tolle Idee. Allerdings ist das Aussetzen der 100 "Friendenstauben" aus meiner Sicht hoch problematisch. Diese Tauben werden nämlich keineswegs in ein glückliches Leben in Freiheit entlassen. Ganz im Gegenteil, durch das Aussetzen werden sie quasi "obdachlos".
Stadttauben sind nämlich eigentlich gezüchtete Haustiere, die auf den Straßen der Städte ausgesetzt und verwildert oft unbeachtet um ihr Überleben kämpfen, da sie eine artgerechte, aus Sämereien und Körnern bestehende Nahrung nicht finden und sich durch Spikes und andere Vergrämungsmaßnahmen Verletzungen zuziehen können. Das Leid der Stadttauben ist also vom Menschen verursacht!
Zahlreiche ehrenamtlich Aktive arbeiten derzeit daran, den Tauben ein artgerechtes Leben zu ermöglichen und langfristig das Populationswachstum zu kontrollieren. Dabei ist es äußerst kontraproduktiv, wenn immer wieder neue Tauben ausgesetzt werden und sich die Population so erhöht!
Es ist also sowohl im Interesse der Menschen, die sich über die Tiere beschweren oder auch Mitgefühl für sie haben, als auch im Sinne der Tauben, dass die Tiere - wie andere Haustiere auch - nicht ausgesetzt werden. Hätten die Kinder gewusst, was den Tauben bevorsteht, dann hätten sich bestimmt viele von ihnen dagegen ausgesprochen.
Viele Menschen wissen nicht um das Schicksal der Stadttauben und ich hoffe sehr, dass es sich bei den Veranstaltenden ebenso verhielt. Jedoch sollte man auch, wenn man aus Unwissenheit Leid verursacht, die Verantwortung dafür übernehmen. Ein Unterstützung der Stadttauben bzw. der Ehrenamtlichen, die sich um diese kümmern, durch den Bremer Kindertag sowie die zukünftige Unterlassung von tierleidverursachenden Aktionen wären aus meiner Sicht gute Möglichkeiten, um diese Verantwortung zu übernehmen.
