I just spent a night there, passing through. What a charming place. Situated in an area (the 'VillaQuarter' /Villaviertel) of Bonn that really has to be seen, it is one of the many astonishing and beautiful houses in this area, and presumably dates from the later nineteenth century. Despite it's enormous size, I think there is less than a dozen rooms and you should book; I was just lucky. There is no lift, and there are some old-fashioned features. But who cares. The bed was very comfortable, the room like the rest of the house had some very nice old furniture, and everything was spotlessly clean and worked. The hotel is on a leafy side-road and so is very quiet. The breakfast was excellent, the service exceptionally prompt and friendly, and it really is a family-run hotel. Prices are modest: I paid EU 69 for a single room. It is not ten minutes from the Rhein. One of the restaurants recommended in the the Hotel's own information for guests (in German and English) proved to be a real find, with a splendid view, really good food and friendly service (the Bastei).
