Certainly the best meal money can buy in Bonn, but not without some shortcomings. Highly recommend!
The food and atmosphere were, as hoped, stunning. My partner and I spent four hours enjoying our five course meal, which came with smaller dishes throughout. The seafood and cheeses were especially delectable, while the beef dishes were delicious but not quite as special (though take this with a grain of salt, as we are mostly pescatarian). Each course brought unexpected and exciting flavors, with gorgeous design and myriad tastes. The chef was attentive, descriptive and professional; though, he could have been a tad more inviting. Pricing was definitely expensive; however, when considering the amount and quality of food we were served, they reflected the meal perfectly. Service was optimal, with each dish cleared and glass filled as soon as one emptied.
One final criticism, an oddly important aspect of the environment: the music. About one course into the meal, we realized they were playing classical covers of 2000’s pop songs; the playlist only lasted about an hour and a half, so we listened multiple times through.
Overall, we loved our experience at Halbedel’s and would definitely recommend a few changes to the environment.
