One if my favourits
Great architecture, sophisticated and ambitious, yet modern performances. A must, especially for Shakespeare performances.

Gorgeous building! We visited the Jonny Casch performance. The music was good, and the way they tells the story is interesting. In the breack u can buy something to dring at the bar and spent some time in the holl. The prices are a bit expansive. The tickets are recommended to buy before. At the night of the show usually all the tickets are already taken. The square in front of the theater is also nice decorated with the lights.

I went in on a Thursday to pick up tickets at the box office and I was confronted with the worst customer service ever. It all began at the door. I mistakenly pulled the door, instead of pushing it. First of all; I’m human, secondly German is my fifth language and lastly I am a customer. After my attempt to open the door I heard a yell from the inside, “Drucken, drunken” which means push in German. I could not believe that I was being yelled at by a cashier! She could have opened the door and asked politely how she could be of any assistance. There were so many possibilities how she could have dealt with a day dreamer, like me. Instead she acted with no class at all. I felt very uncomfortable and I really didn’t want her to help me. So I went to the counter where there was another cashier. I opened my bag and I was just about to tell the cashier that I wanted to pick up some tickets; when I heard her pounding her palm on the counter and yelled, “Hier, hier”. Meaning I had to go to her counter. Her demeanor was unpleasant and completely unacceptable. I told her immediately that I found her to be rude. She then decided to bark back and said she wasn’t being rude and that she had two witnesses. She was literally telling me, the customer not to complain. I asked for her name. She didn’t even give me her name. She indicated to me that it was right there on the plank. Corinna. Well, I would like everyone to know that whoever hired Corinna, might as well hire another crack head to work at the ticket office. Perhaps the next classless cashier that you put behind that counter reflects the culture and art of Bochum. I’m certainly not impressed. I’ve been to the Napa opera house, the San Francisco symphony and all the employees mirror class and decency. Schauspielhaus you lost a customer due to the unprofessional and unpleasantness of your employees.

Great theater with good, often experimental productions. I was never disappointed.
