Food is excellent. Always fresh and affordable. There’s lots of places heralded as ‘the best in Berlin’ but if you want great schwarma, you have to eat where the locals eat. And this is where they eat. These guys know what they’re doing and the place is practically an institution on this part of Karl Marx Straße. If you catch it when the owner is working, you’re in for a treat of good humoured, caring service. They have a little bit of competition now with the Syrian place next door (also excellent) but their hallumi just nudges it ahead.
