There is a rule of thumb when it comes to Greek restaurants in Germany. You visited one, you've seen most of them. A standard set of meat dishes, either dry as sand or extremely greasy. And covered in Metaxa sauce. And French fries from week old oil, of course.
Well this is not the case. In Greek joints, I always take one of the meat plates to have an overview and hopefully luck. Same I did in Syrtaki.
Jesus.
Everything was delicious. Lamb chops crispy on the outside, still pink and juicy on the inside. Pork fillets were juicy and soft like marshmallows. Even gyros was perfectly balanced on the level of crispness. Don't forget the sides - a baked potato, fresh crunchy onions, and Tzatziki. That actually tastes like in Greece. We also ordered a Greek salad as a side. Feta is actually feta, not Discount Schafskäse. Everything is fresh. If I had a chance, I would go to the kitchen chef and hug him. Cause the guy knows what's his doing. Actually an observation, most if not all of the staff are Greek, what explains the food quality and general hospitality of the place.
In a a short summary. If you are in Northern parts of Berlin, or just looking for really good Greek food. Hit Syrtaki restaurant. A hint of advice - even though Blankenburg seems to be end of the world, on evenings especially around the weekends, this place is packed. So don't be surprised, when your order may take a little while. Cause the way they cook, it's w worth to wait.
