I chose this hotel as it was reasonably priced, breakfast was included and the location really suited me. (Although I just got an email asking me to pay for breakfast which was a bit surprising. I don't have the energy to argue though as I had to leave during the night due to flight cancellations and made the payment just now as well.) Because of the negative reviews, I was a bit apprehensive about the fact that I would arrive late in the evening due to my flight. However on the day of my check-in, I received an email from the hotel staff via Booking with instructions on how to open the door to the reception, the rules for the hotel and where my room was (Room 402 on 4th floor). Contact details were also provided however never necessary. If you book online, do make sure to have the contact details saved just in case of an emergency. I arrived to a closed reception however this suited me very well and my key was left in my room for me.
The breakfast was lovely and the cafeteria ladies were so sweet! They supervised the buffet to make sure there was always enough food for everyone. When you come down, they ask you to show your key and how many people there are. There is limited English understanding however you are in Germany. Don't expect everyone to speak English! In fact, lil history fact for you all. People who come from the East Side of the wall usually don't speak different languages as they weren't taught them unless proven loyal to the party.
The room I was in was a one bedroom. I expected a cupboard. This was anything but! The room was really nice size, big windows which you can open fully and an adorable bathroom. The bathroom feels like a cube but it is so cute and there is a rain shower!!!! There is soap, toilet paper, hair dryer and towels provided but no other toiletries so do bring your own. The room was clean, there was free WiFi, a telly and a book of hotel rules with housekeeping, breakfast information and public transport info. Really useful. There is no A/C in the rooms so for hotter days I would advise bringing a small fan with you.
The housekeeper usually appears around 9-10 so if you'd like to sleep in without being disturbed, make sure to put a DO NOT DISTURB sign outside. If you don't see the sign in your room, don't be scared to ask for it at reception the next morning. The housekeeper does come into the room without announcing herself so it may be a little bit off putting if you're not comfortable however she is very nice and will help if you have any problems.
There is also a church outside which has a bell that goes off at random intervals but that is absolutely nothing to do with the hotel. There's a small cafe right next door to the hotel, plenty of shops nearby (EDEKA, BUDNI, Netto, LOTTO gas station, restaurants, corner shop with an internet cafe and printing access, ATM), really good public transportation access (U-Bahn, S-Bahn, buses) and a very nice park across the street. The hotel is pet friendly as well.
Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay. I didn't experience any difficulties and will definitely come back.
