Holiday Inn Berlin - City West, an IHG Hotel

Location looks a bit shady at night.

We booked another hotel but they were overbook. According to German law they have to provide you with another hotel. That's how we ended up at Holiday Inn. All the standard rooms were booked so we got an upgrade. Room was big and fine, bathroom decent. Front desk was nice, nothing to complain. Overal stay was not more than 12 hours, we couldn't use the pool.

Good breakfast and excellent reception. However, this hotel has serious gaps in area if security. That is the place where you don’t feel safe for your belongings when you leave your room. Even if you left belongings in a room’s safe. Cleaning service is a kind if strange: one room is always cleaned by 3 people at the same time, whereas … one of 3 is always standing out of the room, in a corridor and looking asides. There had been 2 cases of theft during a month of my stay: one time from safe, another time from a suitcase. Both cases when people were out of a room. Nothing was compensated. Noone was found guilty. I doubt I will ever stay again in this hotel.

Positive: It was nice, the staff was very helpful and professional. Located close to everything I needed. Negative: Room could have been a bit cleaner. The website said that the pool was heated but it was actually freezing. You had to pay fro breakfast anytime you went down and that tends to add up.

Holiday Inn Berlin West is located about 40 minutes with taxi or 80 minutes from the airport, BER. Whilst there is local buses outside the hotel, it is a 10 minute walk to the metro station which will take you the centre of town in about half an hour. The hotel has a small heated pool at the lower level, however it's an exaggeration to call the gym room for a fitness centre when all you provide are a broken treadmill, an old bike and a multiexcerise machine that has seen better days. My advice is to bring running shoes instead of trying the gym! The rooms are a nice size but are dated and should be updated to match the rates of the hotel. A word of warning, the aircon makes a lot of noise and very little cold air. The restaurant and bar are nice and if you want something else there are a few restaurants around and a small minimarket.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. We only stayed one night, and it was pretty cheap for a double room, with a bathtub. We did not eat the breakfast though. Not far away from the airport. But quite far away from centrum i think...

Rooms in bad condition, rude and unpleasant staff, with bad attitude. On breakfast everything on warm food tastes like bacon and fish, ie scrambled egs, potato rostis. Sauna is not open every/pool is not open daily, its quite random actually when its open.

The bathroom is breaking on hands, bath tub looks yellow from dirt. After all looks like not a single thing has been repaired ever.

Not suitable for workers.
Not suitable for nice holiday.

be careful in this hotel. We had a large sum of money stolen from the hotel safe. The hotel refused to call the police, we called ourselves. The hotel did not return the money…
