Impressed by the food here. What a pity it will be closed at the end of this year...hope it will be reopened somewhere very soon.

I am so impressed with the food, services and wine paring!

We had an incredible meal here. Easily the best in Berlin. Excellent wine suggestions, and expansive options. We had the surprise tasting course, and not a single dish disappointed.
The wait staff was very nice, and even Sonja came and said hello! I would highly recommend!

Fantastic tasting menu and interesting wine pairings. We had a five course meal (which effectively was more like 12 courses) with wine pairings for 150 euros per person.
The staff was very attentive to any special dietary restrictions you might have, and came up with alternate versions of the same dishes where applicable. We had a really great time, thanks for having us!

A Tale of Two Restaurants
If my assessment of this restaurant was for the food only I would award 5+ points. This is regrettably not possible and, with consideration of service and atmosphere, I can only give a rating of 2+.
The food was excellent and up to Michelin star standard. Although there was another large party in the main room, I feel that the Head Chef, Sonya Frühsammer, could have briefly visited the 5 tables in the separate room, all of whom had chosen her surprise menu. As, however, the food was so creative and excellent, I am not subtracting points for this.
My bones of contention are fourfold:
1. Atmosphere. Although we were not given notice on booking, we were shepherded (without explanation) into a side room which, to say the least, was uninviting and not up to five-star standard. Apart from the uninspiring decor, the overall impression was dingy and the furniture marks on the walls cry out for redecoration. A poor and disappointing start to the evening.
2. Service. Although the young waiters and waitress were friendly, the table service was slow, erratic and inattentive. I do not expect, in a Michelin star restaurant, to have to ask repeatedly for more water, bread etc., I inadvertently dropped my table napkin on the floor. I expected to be given a new one. Far from it! Although it was clearly visible, three of the staff ignored or failed to see it - the Sommelier even trod on it!! Following the main course, we took a 5-minute toilet break. On return, our plates, by now cold and greasy, were still on the table. It took another 5 minutes before a waiter noticed and removed them. Should my comments on these matters be criticised I have photographic evidence.
3. Toilet facilities. The gentlemen's toilet (downstairs) is apparently shared with a tennis club and adjoins the changing rooms. Apart from the 'sporty', locker room smell, the washroom was dirty and littered with paper towels (the receptacle for used towels was full). The taps, soap and paper dispensers are manual (i.e. without sensors), which meant that one had to touch everything that the previous guests/players had used. On the second occasion, I used the ladies toilet on the ground floor with my wife on guard. This is a total no-go for a Michelin star restaurant. Again, I have photos.
4. The Sommelier and his wines. The menu is offered with accompanying wines. There is neither wine nor price list. This is irritating. To be fair, the wines we eventually selected (we are exclusively white wine drinkers) were excellent. The value for money ratio is acceptable. We each had some 6 glasses of very good wine at a total cost of 60 €. Now to the crunch point. The Sommelier is no less a person than Mr Frühsammer himself. He is undoubtedly very knowledgable, but he is a dictator! He completely ignored our questions on what wines were available and their price. His first recommendation was excellent, the next two we were not so happy with and he grudgingly accepted that we wanted a wine of our choice, and served a first class Grau Burgunder from Phillip Kuhn, who supplies our house wines. During the latter half of the evening he sat with other guests (friends?) an ate and drank at their table with his back to us. As the waiters were absent for some considerable time, we sat for a long period with empty glasses.
Summary. I have titled this review 'A Tale of Two Restaurants' because, although our dinner was of Michelin star standard, perhaps even more than one star, the accompanying factors: poor waiter service, a dominating sommelier, dingy surroundings and dirty toilets, made for a disappointing evening. I regret, unless standards are raised, that I am unable to recommend this restaurant to anyone else.

Tucked away in Berlin the visit was worth the effort. The restaurant was spacious and the interiors were tasteful. We had the set menu and each course was delightful. Each dish was well presented and delicious. The flavour of each dish was different. We were a party of five and each of us enjoyed each dish. The service was excellent and since the menu was in German the staff translated the menu into English. The service was excellent and the owner gave a personal touch to our delightful evening. Will definitely visit Fruehsammers during next visit to Berlin

A bit out of the central but very much worth it. The food was nothing less than amazing, and so was the service.
