The night emergency dental service that this hospital offers is a perfect example on how the health care system in Germany does not work because it is only based on profit. First of all, they don't answer the phone and they don't have a nurse at recepcion, only someone from security. You arrive there and you have to fill in a form and leave it in a postbox at a door without even knowing if what you have can be treated in the emergency room. There is no waiting room, you just wait at the entrance of the hospital. There is not even a water dispenser. The waiting time was insane, clearly they did not have enough personnel (again, profit). The absolute worst is that I saw that they stopped accepting patients after midnight, even a small child. The security man was being extremelly rude to this child's family. How can it be that in a developed country people cannot get their accute health care needs met? And this in Charité, one of the best hospitals in Germany that gets a lot of money from tax payers. Again, shameful. I am giving two starts instead of 1 because the medical personnel did quite a good job and were empathetic despite the circumstances. They fixed my broken tooth but I did not get a good explanation on what they were doing, why, or the pending things that my dentist needs to check.
